Fall Term, 1997

Aug. 27 Orientation for all new students begins.
Aug. 28 SPEAK test for new international students in Ph.D. program.
Aug. 29 Registration for all new students begins.
Sep. 2 Registration for returning students begins.
Sep. 3 Fall term classes begin, 8:30 a.m.
Sep. 5 Registration ends (a fine of $25.00 is assessed after this date).
Sep. 15 Due date for dissertations to be considered by the Degree Committees for award of the Ph.D. in December.

Eligible students who submit the dissertation on or before this date will be entitled to cancellation of the fall term full-tuition charge or CRF.

Sep. 17 Final day for late registration.

Fall term course enrollment forms are due (a fine of $25.00 is assessed for forms submitted after this date).

Final day to apply for a fall term personal leave of absence.

The entire fall term tuition charge or CRF will be cancelled for students who withdraw on or before this date or who are granted a leave of absence effective on or before this date.

Sep. 27 One-half of the fall term full-tuition charge will be cancelled for students who withdraw on or before this date or who are granted a medical leave of absence effective on or before this date (the CRF is not pro-rated).
Oct. 1 Final day to file petitions for degrees to be awarded in December.
Oct. 24 Final day to change enrollment in a fall-term course from Credit to Audit or from Audit to Credit without a fee (a fine of $25.00 per course is assessed for enrollment status changes submitted after this date).

Final day to drop a fall-term course without a fee and without the course appearing on the transcript (a fine of $25.00 per course is assessed and a "W'' is recorded on the transcript for courses dropped after this date).

One-quarter of the fall term full-tuition charge will be cancelled for students who withdraw on or before this date or who are granted a medical leave of absence effective on or before this date (the CRF is not pro-rated).

Eligible students who submit the dissertation on or before this date will be entitled to cancellation of half of the fall term full-tuition charge (the CRF is not pro-rated).

Dec. 1 Classes resume, 8:30 a.m.
Dec. 5 Final day to withdraw from a fall term course.
Dec. 21 Fall Term ends; Winter Recess begins.

Spring Term, 1998

Jan. 9 Eligible students who submit the dissertation on or before this date will be entitled to cancellation of the spring term full-tuition charge or CRF.
Jan. 12 Registration and Spring ID validation begins.

Spring term classes begin, 8:30 a.m.

Jan. 14 Final grades for fall term courses due.
Jan. 26 Registration and Spring ID validation ends (a fine of $25.00 is assessed after this date).

Spring term course enrollment forms are due (a fine of $25.00 is assessed for forms submitted after this date).

Final day to apply for a spring term personal leave of absence.

May 12 Spring Term ends.
May 15 Final grades for spring term courses are due for candidates for M.A. and M.S. degrees to be awarded at Commencement (master's programs).
May 25 University Commencement.
Jun. 1 Final grades for spring term courses and full-year courses are due.
